Aims
The main objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between selected characteristics of the built environment and the level of PA of adolescents using GPS and GIS.
Realization
Monitoring of weekly PA will be carried out using accelerometers with entering the data into record sheet. The spatial location of the active transport of the participants will be measured by the GPS, then exported and modified in the GIS. GIS will be also used to identify the main urban factors influencing PA. The main objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between selected characteristics of the built environment and the level of PA of adolescents using GPS and GIS. At least 8 schools will participate in the research. We expect to include 160 students in the study, aged 15-16 years. The study will build on the studies of monitoring of PA and the built environment in the Czech Republic and abroad. The research results should characterize the impact of the built environment on PA of adolescents and identify the optimal walking distance to school in terms of active transport in a particular type of built environment. The results will serve as a recommendation to the communal policy in the field of preventive, health and urban decisions.
