Aims
The main aim is to assess the trends in the prevalence of overweight and obesity, PA and sedentary behavior in children aged 11-15 years in the Czech Republic. Specific aim is to examine the influences of sedentary behavior, PA and eating habits on the prevalence overweight and obesity by gender.
Realization
This project involves a multilevel cross-sectional analysis that examined the trends in prevalence of overweight and obesity, physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior of schoolchildren aged 11-15 years in the Czech Republic. The participants and schools were obtained from the 2002 (n=5,012), 2006 (n=4,782), and 2010 (n=4,425) “Health Behavior in School-aged Children” (HBSC) survey. An additional data collection in 2014 (n=4,500-5,000) will be implemented in the same way as in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Overweight and obesity will be assessed using the BMI, age and gender according to the WHO growth reference for school-aged children. The level of PA, sedentary behavior and eating habits will be quantified by standardized HBSC questionnaire responses of the participated children.
